13-carat Pink Diamond found during bulk sampling in South AfricaMarch 23, 2023
“Homestead Diamonds has recovered a rare 13-carat pink diamond from its bulk sampling operation on the Samada kimberlite pipe in the Free state province of South Africa. The 13.33-carat Pink is a Type IIa diamond and is one of several exceptional fancy colour stones recovered since the commencement of the bulk sampling program in 2020.
The Homestead project, which this year won the Junior Mining ESG Award for Circularity at the Mining Indaba, the world’s largest mining investment event, is the first of its kind regenerative diamond mine. Homestead is using state-of-the-art technology for the bulk sampling operation, coupled with regenerative farming practices, a net zero water strategy and carbon sequestration, as part of its social and environmental commitments.”
